We are all aware of the growing trend within the hospitality sector, the more I speak to hoteliers, whether it's the Midlands, up North or central London - it's apparent that there has been a shift from negotiating a Comparative Corporate rate Vs the Safety of your property?
This is the deciding factor whether corporates will travel, and or whether group safety managers will permit same! The general feedback from Sales, GM's, Ops & F&B, is that the pedantic cleaning regime associated with both franchised & independent hotel groups is NOT achieving acquisition - A disclaimer within the lift area, confirming that the property adopts covid safe protocols, is no longer 'good enough' - corporates and 'stay & play' guests alike require more substance! In addition, due to circumstances beyond control, it is an unfortunate reality that the majority of the team, within this sector is most probably undergoing consultation, and understandably will not be in the right mind-set to 'go the extra mile' with regards to safety!
I may have a solution and or something to provide more comfort for potential guest acquisition!
I have been working with Medi-Clean, whom have recently achieved certification to shield against Covid-19 for 90 x days, The application works on virtually any surface, both porous & non-porous. It is currently being used by London Underground, National Police, NHS & The Premier League, to name a few!
I myself have a restaurant business up in Leicester and I have used Medi-Clean throughout my business, and the shield is tested every 30 days, as part of the initial cost.
In addition, stickers are provided for either door seals (hotel rooms), and or the entrance doors of your business. I think the most important element of this service is that they film the process whilst onsite, and produce an edit 'your' video to 'promote safety' on your social media platforms & website etc.
I spoke to the MD Simon Barratt, whom has informed me that placing stickers on every item within a hotel room is counter productive - if a guest does not use a glass, telephone and or the coffee mug; how confident are you that your team has effectively cleaned that room safely, especially the 'touch point' areas like the tv remote, light switches & door handles?
Simon has recently completed a hotel group wherein, he not only treated each room, he has treated the mattress, pillows, chairs & couches - "if you think about a guest, who may be sleeping on a bed for 8hours, potential sweat will be absorbed within the pillows and mattress". Simon & team prefers to place a sealed sticker on the door of the room and the entire room is certified as 'protected' for 90 x days. I asked him the obvious question, when housekeeping enters the room to perform general cleaning after the 'sweep', does that impact the shields efficacy? Simon confirmed that only caustic based chemicals would break the shield, a chemical that is currently not in use in most of the hospitality sector.
In conclusion, its a 'should I stay or should I go' scenario - there are various cleaning solutions on offer within the Medi-Clean range, so it may be the open lobby & kitchen areas, that you want to focus on first, but it's something to consider as an ongoing solution to create that #stay_safe environment for your staff & guests moving forward!
I'm getting behind this solution, as Simon has recently launched a 'reaction' service for offices, hotels, restaurants and bars, whom may have a positive Covid case confirmed?
The MC team will react to site within 3hr's, all colleagues within the property are tested onsite & results will be provided within 15min of the test. The property is then 'swept' with the water-based chemical solution that is non-toxic & food safe!
Get in touch with me & I'll send you a quick online form to confirm the area in question, will ping back a quote and there you go - safely acquiring occupancy, clients and or dining customers!
